Our story started when the UK Community Chartering Network were invited by members of this community to speak to a public meeting at a local Village Hall.
A group of residents were impressed by their aim and vision of enabling community-led processes which help communities to articulate and continuously manifest their shared lived experience of where they live and work
Community Charters are rights-based documents which identify the values, "assets", and aspirations for a local area which residents have agreed to be fundamental to the present and future of their community, together with related rights and responsibilities.
Communities in St Ives, Falkirk, Loch Lomond, River Dart have also created charters. These have been used effectively to give communities a voice to bring about positive change for the benefit of the present and future generations.
